Getting to Tate Modern

We started the morning at the Tate Modern, I went there via the DLR from Beckton, when I got to Bank Station due to some closures I got stuck and it took me way longer to escape the station than it should have done.

I walked down from Bank Station to the Millenium Bridge and went straight to the first entrance of Tate Modern on the Riverside. I messaged my friend and she told me that she was 2 minutes away. Then she messaged me to tell me that she was in the shop on the ground floor, I still had 30 people in front of me in the queue to have bags checked. I learnt that she had entered via the turbine hall and that there was no queue round that side, so i left the queue and walked to the other side.

Tracey Emin - A Second Life

The Tracey Emin - A Second Life exhibition is ending on 31 August 2026. There was quite a number of people at the exhibit, but was not overly busy. As a lot of her work contains a lot of words rather than having more words describing the works they had created a free audio guide that described the works.

It was a fantastic exhibit and well worth visiting, parts of it are quite dark talk about abortions and how she was treated in her youth.

Wahaca

We had a while before we were going to see the film and also needed to get some food. We walked along Southbank to find somewhere to eat. We tried Wahaca to see if they had a table, they did!

They had a meal for 1 which we both had, it came with Tortilla Chips, Guacamole, Corn Dip, Sweet Potato & Feta Taquito and a choice of 2 tacos. I chose Pork Pibil and Mushroom Tacos. I also had a Marmalade Mezcalita (Quiquiriqui Matatlan mezcal, zesty lime and a house-made guajillo chilli marmalade syrup. Sweet and smoky with a subtle spice).

American Uptopia

We went to the BFI IMAX to see David Byrne's American Utopia. This is the second time I have seen a film with David Byrne at the BFI IMAX, the last time was to see Stop Making Sense 40th Anniversary. This new film is also a concert film, directed by Spike Lee. It was an excellent concert and the set list was fantastic. The filming and atmosphere was superb too.
