A leisurely start to the day with breakfast at the hotel then at 10:30 I drove Susan up to the villa. She was joining the other ladies for a spa day. Then I drove two friends over to the next town along the Lycian Coast called Kaş.

Kaş

Before we set off I looked for a car park in the centre of town as I didn't just want to look for a parking space on the side of the road somewhere. When we arrived it was a gated car park and for a whole day it would be 450₺, but we weren't there all day and it was 200₺ (about £3).

Once we parked up we found our friends just around the corner at Coffee Shop Galerie and we joined them for drinks. I had a blackberry milkshake and while I had this I wrote a bunch of postcards to send back home to friends.

We then had a stroll around the old town looking for somewhere to eat. The first suggestion was to have burgers I pointed out that I didn't come to Türkiye to eat American food. So on we wandered, we found a Turkish place that had tables indoors with air conditioning called Bukta. I had Manti (Turkish Ravioli) and a Coffee with Ice, at first they said no but then they went next door and got some ice from there.

Antiphellos

In ancient times Kaş was known as Antiphellos, which translates as The place opposite the rocky place. We walked along the road to the amphitheatre, it was originally built to seat 4000 spectators and parts of it were repaired in 2008.

On our way back we stopped off at a bar with a sea view which was suspended on the edge of a cliff. I had a Frozen Blackberry mocktail and glued 42 stamps on 21 envelopes, which all contained postcards, I hope they all arrive this time the ones I sent from Cambodia did not arrive.

We then headed back to the car park and another friend joined us so that he could go and sort out the group meal for our last night together. When we arrived back in Kalkan I dropped him at Coriander restaurant to sort the meal and then dropped the car and friends back at our hotel before heading to Lime Garden where the ladies were having cocktails. After I quick drink I headed to the post office to post the postcards home (will you be receiving one?).

Şahika Bahçe

After a quick shower and change we headed to Bezirgan for our tasting menu at Şahika Bahçe. Waze.com and Google Maps both gave me different directions to Bezirgan, Waze suggested going inland and over the hill (35 minutes) and Google maps along the coast and inland (23 minutes). I chose the Waze option as I'd already driven the coast route. The climb up the hill went the same way as the walk we did on Monday and then carried on even further up the hill.

Just before we got to the top of the hill we saw some ancient rooms carved out of the rock face about 10 metres up from the road. As we crested the hill we turned off the main road and onto a gravel track. We passed a house on the right and a huge dog came out to block the road and bark at our car. I had to carefully and slowly drive around it.

The meal was fantastic, but I wrote about this on a different food post.

On our way back to Kalkan we stopped of at a petrol station to refuel the car. The petrol station was serviced and the man asked how much fuel I needed, I told him I need the car to be half full. He suggested that would be 1300₺ and he was bang on. I went in to the shop to pay, I also got some water and throat sweets. It turns out that I had to make 2 payments one for the fuel and the other for the water and sweets, I had no idea why.

A quick change at the hotel to change into our football tops, Susan in her England shirt and me in my Lajee Celtic Palestine shirt. We then headed out to find our friends to watch the England v Norway World Cup quarter-final, England won 2-1.
