Oh My Knee Caps

Today we went to Crystal Palace Park to see Kneecap play their largest headline show to date, there were 20,000 mostly Irish fans. Thankfully the temperature was much less than the previous few days and only peaked at 30ÂșC.

On the way we passed the Kneecap pop-up merch shop. They had a dartboard with Maggie Thatcher's face on it. If you got a dart in Maggie's eye you got a prize.

Accessibility

This event was run by Festival Republic and their accessibility team are fantastic. This meant that there was no queue for us to get in, it also meant that we had a quick way out, which was definitely needed as by the end of the day my knees really were not up to queuing to get out of the venue.

Fat Dog

Fat Dog were superb and the crowd reacted really well. I knew they were going to be great as we had seen them close Bearded Theory just a month earlier.

The Mary Wallopers

I had never seen The Mary Wallopers before and had only listened to a couple of tracks, that I really didn't pay attention to. Their music is traditional Irish folk music, but the songs concentrate on the injustices in the world. The atmosphere was epic and the crowd were going wild.

Kneecap

Before they came on stage they played Favourite by Fontaines D.C. as a tribute to their manager, Trevor Dietz who died a couple of weeks ago.

They had made a massive improvement to the visuals, the staging was amazing. They played many of the tracks off their new album Fenian, including Irish Goodbye which featured a guest appearance from Kae Tempest.

They always encourage mosh pits at their gigs, "Open up a pit". There were many mosh pits and they always say that if anyone falls over we help them up. Twice they stopped the gig to make sure that people were safe.

It was an absolutely solid gig and they just keep getting better. They finished the set off with The Recap.

Perhaps I shouldn't have jumped around as much, as my knees were in bits by the end.
