Today we return the Forest National in Brussels. This time to see Massive Attack.

Thai Cafe

Before the gig 7 of us met at Thai Cafe, a 10 minute walk to the venue, to get some food. The food was great and they had a good selection of alcohol-free beers, I had Bloemekéke and La Chouffe 0.4%.

t-shirts

I had seen from posts about the Finland show that they had new t-shirts in the merch for this tour. There was a post that, in Helsinki, that they sold out very quickly of the new shirts, so I made sure that I bought mine as early as possible. I bought the light grey one that had in Arabic "Journalist" and below in French & English Don't Shoot and at the bottom it says Beirut 82. On the back of the t-shirt it has the 2 dates and locations Massive have playing in Lebanon, Baalbeck International Festival 17 July 2004 and Byblos International Festival 29 July 2014.

Set

The set was very similar to the set that they have been tour for the past few years. It featured Horace Andy, Elizabeth Fraser and Deborah Miller on guest vocals. The crowd were amazing and those that came with us who had not seen Massive Attack before we overwhelmed and in tears.

Under the Stairs

Once the gig had finished we jumped on a tram to Brussels Midi and then the Metro to Madou, when we then walked to Under the Stairs cocktail lounge. This is the 3rd time I've been here this year once during FOSDEM and the other time after the David Byrne gig.

They have a new menu since the previous visits, which was a tad disappointing as I was really looking forward to the Frida Kahlo (mezcal based cocktail). Instead I had a different mezcal based cocktail which was suitably excellent followed by a Mezcalitt.
